I fell in love with the beautiful & colorful skirts that the indigenous women wear in the highlands of peru. i bought an adult sized one that i hope to wear when i return to the states (sent that one home with my folks 'cause i'd feel funny wearing it here) and also a child's skirt with which i hope to do something creative. i'm thinking maybe some kind of pillow using the fun scalloped edges as a border, but am hoping some of my creative friends out in the blogosphere might have other ideas. (lorie marie?) Here are some photos:
The green felt is just background and the photo on the left is more true to the real life colors. Aren't the animals and flowers great?
Also, thank you to Suzy for the wonderful package from Japan. Included were some fun items (fabric, stickers, magnets, stationary) in an autumn pallet:
And my very favorite, this beautiful postcard with artwork by Mimo Hirai:
I remember having the mexican skirt eqialent when I was younger. Black velvet painted beautiful bright colors. I lost it moving and mourn the loss. Those colors are beautiful!
