Badkittie

but it was fun pretending.  it was hard to get good photos of the show, but here's one of me in babooshka before my fake hair came off and one of the start of the show on colfax.  it's not easy walking down colfax in heels.

i need to practive model-y faces.  my attempts made me look like a possessed zombie.

super fresh

ahhh...mountains in the spring.

i loved seeing piles of snow hanging on among the blooming flowers.

i loved feeling the warm sun against the back of my neck.  (yes, i wore sunblock to avoid burning!)

today it looks like rain.  (no sunblock needed.)

i'm wearing my new earrings (thank you becks!) in honor of the dark clouds (and also because they rock).

beautiful losers

Butterfly-400

i love the feeling of empowerment that comes from being alone in a crowd.  in ny, when i got to an event alone it brings a rush of energy and happiness.  i'm finding it harder to achieve that feeling in a smaller city where more folks know each other.  The anonymous feeling i love sometimes turns into something more similar to loneliness than independence.

still

i am glad i went to see the movie beautiful losers last night.  there was a special screening at the mayan, a beautiful old art deco aztec-themed theater, followed by a q&a with director aaron rose.  it's not often that i get to sit and watch a movie about some of my favorite artists.  and this movie really is about the people.  aaron talked about how they conducted interviews with a bunch of high profile critics and in the end those interviews couldn't be included in the movie because they ruined the spirit of it.  the current version provides viewers with insight into the real lives of 12 creative souls.

Kilgallen4

i cried when the movie reached the point in time when margaret kilgallen got sick and ended up dying only a couple of weeks after giving birth to her daughter, asha.  and i loved hearing about how painfully shy barry mcgee is and how he had to be tricked into providing an interview. (harmony korine is endearingly odd!  and a little scary.) i adore this movie.

if you get a chance, go see this movie.  i'm already looking forward to seeing it again.

yee haw!

i love looking at street fashion blogs for inspiration and always find i am most smitten with the photos of older fashionistas such as ram featured on the streets of denver.  he makes me want to know his story.  what's your story, ram?

Jackweil

i love ram's look, but my favorite denver fashionista EVER is jack a. weil, the 107 year-old owner of rockmount ranch wear.  he still goes to work every day.  and he invented the cowboy shirt with snaps!  and perhaps the bolo tie!  he kinda makes me wanna be a cowgirl.

lovely

one highlight of my friends' visit was a hike in Eldorado Canyon State Park.  it is a gorgeous place and the trails were practically empty.  we watched a bunch of rock climbers and confirmed my desire to NEVER EVER rock climb.  i admire folks who climb but i prefer to stay on the ground.

there is a human or maybe a gorilla face in the rocks in the bottom photo.  can you see it?
