i love mike's new reclaimed china.
i owe him a sewing lesson and can't wait to see what he creates with the power of a sewing machine.
tilly the shrew
we oggled pups and peeps at the mod livin' "best in show" auction on friday. our dog went home with a lovely lady who came specifically to bid on him. you can see the nice lady above with noreen, mike, me, and jordan (for some reason i'm the only once in focus).
then we ate cupcakes.
p.s.- there are many reasons i love having my friend jon in town. one of the less sentimental but most relevant to this post reasons is that he takes photos everywhere we go. all puppy photos were taken by him.
we are taking part in a fundraiser for the downtown animal care foundation. our puppy is named "5" and is listed under michael mcdowell, my buddy who organized the decorating. the dogs will be auctioned march 28th from 7-11pm in the mod livin' showroom at 5327 colfax ave., denver, co. if you are in town please come and support local animals in need!
in addition to the auction there is an online voting contest. voting began last night. while the main point is to help raise money, we would greatly appreciate any votes for our dog. thank you! thank you! thank you!
vote for "5" right here through March 24th.
violet pie makes adorable teeny animals.
she also links to some adorable sites like:
this may be the best blog ever!
her dolls have amazing personality.
some of them look so real that they are creepy.
these are my favorite. i find them fascinating.
and her photography is pretty awesome too.
i just wish i could read her writing.
happy weekend!
mike gave me a little blue car. i spent hours pulling it along my floors and counter tops.
jordan spotted a meter cosy near fancy tiger.
a link noreen sent me led to brooklyn tweed. i need to learn how to knit lace.
50 hearts cut from vintage quilts (available on ebay).
my favorite valentine came from isaiah, a 7 year-old boy who participated in an afterschool program i helped run while in college. despite the discouragement of his giggling friends, he ran up and handed me a crude heart cut out of construction paper. quilted hearts are lovely, but nothing beats the innocence of a construction paper heart.
happy valentine's day!
i love the idea of something wildly colorful and intentionally imperfect.
below are some vintage examples from ebay that i saved to inpire me. the top one reminds me of a flower or a medical diagram of a cell. looking at it gives me the jitters (in the best way possible).
