i love looking at street fashion blogs for inspiration and always find i am most smitten with the photos of older fashionistas such as ram featured on the streets of denver.  he makes me want to know his story.  what's your story, ram?

Jackweil

i love ram's look, but my favorite denver fashionista EVER is jack a. weil, the 107 year-old owner of rockmount ranch wear.  he still goes to work every day.  and he invented the cowboy shirt with snaps!  and perhaps the bolo tie!  he kinda makes me wanna be a cowgirl.

lovely

one highlight of my friends' visit was a hike in Eldorado Canyon State Park.  it is a gorgeous place and the trails were practically empty.  we watched a bunch of rock climbers and confirmed my desire to NEVER EVER rock climb.  i admire folks who climb but i prefer to stay on the ground.

there is a human or maybe a gorilla face in the rocks in the bottom photo.  can you see it?

soooo pretty...

i love mike's new reclaimed china.

i owe him a sewing lesson and can't wait to see what he creates with the power of a sewing machine.

how can it be wednesday already?

where does time go?

we had a wonderful visit with my 2 oldest friends this past weekend and it's wednesday before i have time to post anything about it.

we:

-ate a cheese plate, french toast, cookies, scrambled eggs with veggies, tamales, salami, asparagus, and pancakes with fresh strawberries

-spent more than a couple of hours and dollars at the mall

-admired the mountains during a hike

- chatted, analyzed, giggled, and sang beatles songs

we're going to make it a yearly event.  seattle in 2009!

(more photos to follow later in the week.)

this weather is CRAZY!

rows and rows of tulips quickly disappear under the snow...

how can it be 80 degrees one day and blizzarding the next?

i hope it's a little nicer on saturday because i want to go here and here.

mmmm...

Frubeets

Fruoysters

Frufish

-oven roasted beet salad: tangerine & fennel salad, humboldt fog goat cheese, walnut vinaigrette

-potato-wrapped oysters rockefeller: parmesan-leek emulsion, baby spinach

-pan roasted alleye pike: warm shaved asparagus salad, yukon gold potato & english pea puree, foraged mushroom duxelle

-2005 hitching post pinot noir

mmmm...mmmm...mmmm

we finally tried fruition and it was as good as we heard.  i can't wait to go back.

monday always comes too fast...

we made some friends during our afternoon in boulder (located about 30 minutes north of denver).

my parents' visit was an excuse to leave the city on a snowy day and admire tulips (photos to come later this week) and scultpures while wrapped in scarves and gloves.

the weekend felt short but fun. we ate, played scrabble, walked, ate, learned about colorado cowgirls, shopped, drove around neighborhoods that may become ours, and ate a little more.

today i am homesick for new york.

i need to buy my ticket for a summer visit east.

NOT!

Remember "NOT!"?

Phrase trends are odd.

We have an agent but haven't started seriously started looking yet.  Maybe this weekend...

The above photos were taken this past weekend during "Open Doors Denver."  Historical homes, museums, and other sites open their doors once a year and let visitors come in and poke around.  We visited a few mansions.  They were beautiful, but the idea of actually living in one doesn't really appeal to me.  I prefer cozy to colossal.

i love construction

we visited the site of a future HIV clinic in la ciudad juarez.

it's going to be an amazing place.

even it's bones are inspiring.

el paso feels like a border city.

it's dusty and dry.

spanish and english are spoken by most people.

you can buy cowboy boots on every other corner.

we stayed across the street from a shooter's supply shop.

gotta love texas.

texas bound...

this week i am traveling to el paso, texas and la ciudad juarez across the border in mexico.

799pxciudad_juarez_street

checking out new cities is always a little exciting.  even if they are in texas.

i hope to be posting again later this week.  maybe with some fun photos from my trip.

jordan and i are working hard to save, save, save money.  cutting back on our consumption hasn't been too hard.  and it's interesting too.  i find that the less i buy the easier it becomes to distinguish between things i really want and those that are just passing fancies...

one thing that i continue to think about  is an abstract painting to offset some of our more illustration-ish art.  above are some examples of abstract art i admire, but i am looking to learn about other artists.  any suggestions?

we won't buy a big piece until we're settled into a more permanent space.  but i might by myself a little piece as a bday present.

either that or moomin 1 and 2.  moomin is addictive.
